Yes - external validation can be helpful. Having a friend raise concerns is one thing (and might be worth noting) - having an objective third party point it out can help provide clarity. I value therapy because, with good therapists, I've explored issues plaguing my mind and begun the work of being the best me - including setting boundaries and addressing my own shortcomings.
