Yep! I remember training for a half marathon while actively drinking (daily) - I kept logging more miles and incrementally better times - but my weight stayed the same and I looked puffy and bloated and tired. When I gave up alcohol, I lost weight even without training - and, well, my training for races actually felt really good. Staying fit in your late 40s is a challenge, to be sure - adding alcohol to the mix is a sure way to sabotage that healthy life goal.
