Will You Comment on Vocal?
Comments finally arrive at Vocal.Media
For a very brief time in 2020, I posted some fiction over at Vocal. I remember telling people I was writing there and they would ask, “what is Vocal?”
A great question, really. The site has lots of content and a fair amount of creative writing.
The site also does very little to help writers reach new audiences. Not only that, but the site also did not allow comments.
In short, there was no way to build connection with other writers. Sure, you could “like” a post, but even that was anonymous.
Not long ago, they offered a subscription feature. That was a way to allow readers to get updates when writers published.
Still, no way to engage — to really let people know you were reading their work and to (maybe) encourage someone to come take a look at your page, your profile, your writing.
Medium has a strong sense of community. It’s one of the key reasons I enjoy writing here.
The lack of community connection on Vocal is one of the reasons I left. The potential for community is one of the reasons I joined Simily.
