Will Elon Musk Buy Substack?

Elon Musk’s reign at Twitter has received tons of publicity. Still, the micro-blogging site persists, and other competitors have yet to replace it.

Musk’s stated goal is to turn the site into one that produces profit.

Still, Musk has been greeted with resistance due to his politics and his childish posts. His reason for purchasing Twitter was to promote “free speech” but seemed also to be about promoting his own political agenda.

Medium guru Kristina God raised the specter of Musk purchasing Substack in this post:

The comments there reveal that writers have an immediate, negative reaction to the idea of Musk becoming the new boss.

As a Substack writer myself, I have to say I wouldn’t be that excited about Musk taking over.

One key benefit of Substack is that there are no ads. Readers pay for the writing they enjoy. Period.

Musk MAY change that if he takes over.
