This seems like a sensible way to get good information - to help inform choices. Perhaps to shift the values/goals convo. Ultimately, I think any conversation in this realm also needs to normalize "not being ok." - and then to show how/where to ask for help. As you note, kids tend to have a pretty accurate assessment of the harms - but are they aware and willing to ask for help if youthful experimentation becomes problematic use?
