this is key. Dealing with issues, past traumas. Of course, doing so will change you. Maybe the new, better you won't be so appealing to your partner - or, you may become an even BETTER partner - stronger, more clarity. But you're right, if you don't deal, you won't heal - and that will inevitably create trouble.
