This is all too familiar - the comfort of "order" - and the illusion that order is something I can create and control. When I finally (and fairly recently) - let go - accepted the things I cannot change (most things) - my life improved. It is a work in progress, but I find myself happier, more comfortable, and less worried/anxious. A daily dose of morning meditation and taking moments of gratitude throughout the day have helped a lot.
