So - my grandfather said his mother did this - there were 5 kids, but only enough food to feed 4 - and then, 15 or so minutes before dinner, she'd send 1 kid on an errand - and when that kid got back, everyone else would have food and that kid would be left out - I'd never heard of anyone else doing something like that - until now.
