Writing a newsletter is about consistency.

Once you lock in on a topic or topics, you need to be consistent in publishing.

This, in my experience, is how you build an audience.

As in, I’ve been writing on Substack for over two years now.

I publish at least once a week, but most weeks, two to three times.

My audience knows to expect a weekend post and one or two posts during the week.

The weekday posts are usually shorter — mindful of the amount of time one has to spend during the work week.

The good news: Substack makes building and managing a newsletter audience super simple.

And yes, they have great tools to help you get paid for your work.

My education policy Substack is the larger of two I run.

This is the second consecutive month in which I’ve averaged 1.5 new subscribers a day.

My content is offered free to everyone, but I do have the paid option turned on.

This month, I gained four new paid subscribers.

Again, this is the second month where about 10% of all new subscribers have been paid.
