My NewsBreak Earnings in July were 7x My Medium Earnings

And why I’ll keep writing in both places

I have been regularly chronicling my journey on NewsBreak since I joined the site and was approved for the Contributor Program back in February.

Every month since I’ve been on NewsBreak, my earnings there have outpaced my Medium earnings.

The story above was actually my top earning Medium story in July.

This month, my Medium earnings were higher than usual. This meant that although I had a great month on NewsBreak, my earnings there were only 7x my Medium earnings.

So, why not just go all in on NewsBreak and leave Medium behind?

First, I like Medium. I like the friendships among writers, I like the content, and I like the freedom to publish what I want here. On NewsBreak, there’s a strike system and some rigid content controls. Not so on Medium.

Second, I think it is wise to have multiple sources of writing income. I earn at both places and write different content on…
