My Highest Earning Stories in August Weren’t All About Writing

A trend finally breaks as stories on policy issues gain earnings credibility

Every month, I chronicle my earnings journey here on Medium. Or, at least, I write about the top five highest earning articles from the previous month.

In recent months, a clear trend has emerged: Stories I write about writing (and about earning money writing) tend to be the top earners.

So, this month, I was pleasantly surprised when my top earning story was about education policy and three of my top five stories were policy stories, not stories about writing.

I mean, let’s be honest, I’m happy to earn on Medium no matter which story brings in some cash. But my passion is distilling policy issues into a digestible and actionable format. So, when those stories earn, that makes me happy!
