Even if, sometimes, the choices aren’t all that great.
But, deliberate attempts to suppress access to the ballot.
That’s bad.
And that’s what some allege is happening in Tennessee.
It was also the subject of my highest-earning NewsBreak story in March.
This specific issue is about restoration of voting rights for convicted felons.
In some states, once you serve your felony sentence, you automatically get your voting rights restored.
In Tennessee, that’s not the case.
And, without consulting the General Assembly, the state’s top election official created an additional hoop for voting rights restoration.
