A brief report on my top earning stories this month

I’ve been writing on Medium for a little while now, but only seriously writing to attempt to earn money from it since January. In the past three months, I’ve worked to build a following and to publish regularly — in short, I’m taking Medium seriously as both an outlet for my writing and also a potential income stream. I know that money won’t come fast, but I also know this is a good proving ground for my work.
Because I’m looking at Medium as both an outlet for my work and a potential income stream, I’m taking the time to analyze my Medium stats and see what is (and is not) working.
Today, I’m taking a look at my top-performing articles from March. I’m going to limit this to the top 5 earning articles for the sake of brevity.
The top article in terms of earning this month was a piece I wrote in August of 2021.
The piece tells the story of a so-called “mainstream” bank and its short-term loan product with interest rates as high as 499% — ouch! The piece still generates decent views — mostly from Google. But at least a few people who found the piece were also Medium members, which means I earned for their reads.
Coming in 2nd, 3rd, and 5th were stories about my writing journey on Simily. Here’s the one that was actually number 2:
