Earned wage access products can be a neat way to manage cash flow.

They can also be highly problematic, charging high interest rates in order for someone to access their wages — and creating a deficit in future paychecks.

In any case, there’s at least some interest in the Gusto app — an earned wage access product that charges up to 36% to access a portion of your paycheck early.

At least, people are viewing my article about it here on Medium.

For the second week in a row, my story about Gusto was my most-viewed story.

This is a story from 2021 and I’m guessing it is coming up in search results, which is great.

Alerting people to the potential pitfalls of seemingly helpful finance products is one of the primary reasons I write.

I’m grateful Medium makes that possible and hopeful the information I share is useful.
