I gained 35 followers overnight

I’ve been writing seriously on Medium since December of 2021. It was around the time Medium announced that in order to be in the Medium Partner Program (MPP) you needed 100 followers.

To be clear, I’d been writing on Medium before, but I didn’t really take it seriously. Now, I became determined to get those 100 followers and stay in the MPP.

Early on, I checked my stats all the time — multiple times a day, even.

I’d go from 30 followers to 32. As the deadline approached, I just made it over the 100 follower threshold.

As I’ve gotten into the habit of writing daily on Medium, I’ve also gotten into a habit of limiting my stats checks to twice a day.

I check every morning as I review my notifications and I check at the end of the day, when I’m “done” with Medium — writing or commenting.

I’ve been able to add new followers on a daily basis. Sometimes 1 or 2, sometimes 4 or 5.

Until this morning, though, I’d never seen a double digit increase in my follower count.

When I last checked my stats yesterday, I had 708 followers. This morning, I’m at 743.
