He's learned (sort of) the lesson of Trump - but is applying it poorly. Also, he thinks he can out-Trump Trump - SAD! He keeps being mentioned as the Trump alternative - but, even if he were to beat Trump in a primary (unlikely), he's now positioned himself so far outside the mainstream, he can't win. American voters rejected Trump in 2016, 2020, and 2022 - They'll reject DeSantis/Trump in 2024, too. Sad, truly, b/c the man you mention from 2020 might have been a viable candidate for the White House.
