Aside from the National Rifle Association (NRA) and some diehard Second Amendment bros, no one seems to want schoolteachers to carry loaded guns at school.

But, a new Tennessee law allows school districts to allow teachers who receive certain training to carry guns while on duty at school.

A law educators and school administrators and many parents did not ask for.

And a law that districts are now making clear they will not participate in.

Sadly, when lawmakers had a chance to provide what districts need — more resources for teacher compensation — they rejected that plan:

It seems likely that absent changes in the legislature as the result of this year’s elections, Tennesseans will see more propaganda posing as policy in 2025.
