Crossing a key follower threshold

I’ve been writing on NewsBreak for a couple months now and chronicling my journey on the fact-focused platform.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed the experience. Yes, they want facts — newsy content, not opinion. They have fairly strict standards for content — but they are marketing themselves to readers as a news platform, so they want writing that fits that description.

Just yesterday, I crossed the 1000 follower threshold. That’s more than double my following here on Medium. I’ve also seen my earnings steadily increase. Heading into the last week of this month, I’m looking at a month that will far exceed my Medium earnings.

Here’s the great thing about NewsBreak: If you write the content they want, your writing will get in front of readers. Sure, you can promote and get views (and they pay for external views), but if you write it, they’ll take care of the rest.

My experience has been they really do. I have pieces with 30,000–50,000 impressions and some with well over 100,000. Page views…
